Two weeks ago, one of Cindy Kienow's regular customers left her a $100 tip on a tab that wasn't even half that. This week, he added a couple of zeros.Kienow, a bartender at Applebee's, got a $10,000 tip from the man for a $26 meal on Sunday.
Sometimes people don't suck.
I worked in restaurants for years. This kind of stuff never happens to me.
Maybe you should have worn a push-up bra...hehe
Nah - makes me look fat.
best tip i ever received was $200 on a $100 tab. the guy was about to propose to his girlfriend.
best tip i ever got, percentage wise was like $38 bucks on a $20 something check...it was their 38th anniversary and they said i made it very special. it made me feel awesome. but more often you get something like $6 on a $60 dollar check for stellar service...someone seed an article about that please.

semi-off topic: If my server approaches me or anyone at my table as we're nearing the end of our meal and says "Are you still working on that?" They immediately lose half their tip. I am dining out - I am not at work - there are no construction signs on my plate.
"Are you still enjoying your meal?" or anything similar gets them a nice 5-10% bump upwards.
what about 'can i get that out of your way'?
That's not bad, and nowhere near as terrible as the "workin' on it" line.
