A "Jersey Girl's" Letter to Ann Coulter

advertisement

Actually, I expect that you [Ann Coulter] will continue to scream and shout and smear as nastily as you want, so long as you think that that kind of behavior sells books. But we have tackled bigger bullies than you and lived through far worse circumstances than your book tour. We're not intimidated by you. We're not running away.

Powerfull stuff. It's good to see someone put Ann in her place.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

What a thoughtful and overdue comeuppance to a vile stream of uninformed Coulter rhetoric; fantastic.

Out of all of the questions posed in that letter, here's the one I'd like to see Coulter backed into a corner and forced to provide an answer to:

"...and most important, are you aware that the White House exercised the "final edits" on the Commission's report? Tell me, Ann, how does that add up to a Democratic whitewash?"

Just goes to show that the Left isn't the only home to politically motivated conspiracy theorists.

I would still like Ann to attempt to "talk to me with a baseball bat". I would welcome the opportunity to put her(?) in her(?) place. I've never hit a woman in my life but I'm not so sure that Ann is a woman. (S)he's sportin' quite an Adam's apple there.

I served in the military, so no, I'm not a pacifist, but I'm not an aggressor either. She's consistently defined her aggression (a stupid move if you're a reader of Sun Tzu).

Half the right wing pundits seem consistently defined by their aggression. Which is a stupid move if you just apply common sense ;)

Bush and the neo-cons should really read Master Sun, they do just about everything possible wrong - for some reason they mistake macho swagger for strategy.

Frankly, she doesn't need to. She has more than enough readers who seed everything she writes at Townhall here. Further, I doubt Ms. Coulter cares what anyone actually thinks of her, so long as people buy her books. Hers isn't a career path that suggests the feelings of others mean anything to her.

I think she cries herself to sleep every night, waiting for Sean Hannity to show up outside her window, holding up a boom box playing In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel.

Every night.

I do applaud the author of the letter, but can guarantee that it will not be mentioned anywhere in the news. Maybe the letter will find an audience in cyberspace, but US television and radio audiences demand something a little more controversial, a little less intelligent and insightful. They demand the simplistic rhetoric of a screaming banshee like Ann Coulter or Michael Moore.

It is a good letter and full of good questions, but to think that Coulter will answer to it is foolish. To think Coulter will even address the letter in a vague sense at any point is foolish.

Coulter makes blanket statements and... so does this letter when referencing Republicans. What I find most interesting is that the administration prior to Bush was never looked at concerning 9/11 more in depth. I think if you look at something you have to look at it from as many angles as possible. Make it 3 dimensional, something you can touch and fully explore. This however means you've got to be honest and I don't think ANY administration is prepared to be completely honest - Clinton's or Bush's....or the next person.

The only thing that's bad about this article is that its either going to go unnoticed by the public as a whole or Coulter will have something else to complain about. This letter seems to be written in a way that presumes Coulter has reason, and common sense. But everyone knows she's evil and she's as radical right as they come, so this only eggs the fiend on. What I wish is that someone, male or woman, or even a group of people, at one of her book readings or signings or whatever, to completely lambast her. I mean, really rail her, with intelligent, straight talk and all that. I would, but I'm afraid I have 'diehard liberal' etched into my forehead. All this stuff leads me to wonder why Coulter's not FOR being a housewife that awaits a chauvinistic male with dinner, an apron, and will shut her mouth unless asked to speak. Because, hey, that's the original conservative way, right?

I applaud this, and can only hope Ann's ridiculous and thoughtless sentiments tie a noose around that pompous throat, slowly causing her to choke on every untrue and unkind word she's ever uttered via mouth or pen. I'm sure she's got a special spot in the afterlife kept nice a warm for her "Godless" self.

Coulter is an entertainer. She thrives off of the shock value and and venom spewed- her readers love that stuff.

Her relevance to any political topic is no more than Carrot Top or the guy who played Bernie in Weekend and Bernies.

I wish more people would just ignore her. Trying to counter her just fuels the fire she needs to be an author. If no one cared, she wouldn't sell books.

I would say that Coulter is more like a sideshow rather than an entertainer. She is the shock jock of political writers who enjoys fame strictly because we don't expect a woman to be so mean spirited and disingenuous.

She has added nothing to the political debate in the country. Instead she has tried to force a devisive wedge into the American people; all so she can line her pockets.

Unfortunately, we can't just ignore people like her. We need to show her for the snake oil salesman she is otherwise people will just keep buying her wares.
