Rev. Coy Privette, the president of the Christian Action League, a North Carolina ultraconservative Christian political organization based in Raleigh, has been arrested for soliciting prostitution:
Privette, 74, was charged with six counts of misdemeanor aiding and abetting prostitution by renting a hotel room and paying for sexual acts, according to State Bureau of Investigation Agent Kevin Canty. Tiffany Denise Summers, 32, of Salisbury, was charged with six counts of misdemeanor prostitution, Canty said.
First -- Who pays hookers with checks?
Second - What kind of hooker takes checks?
Third - What do you write in the memo line?

"For services rendered"
It didn't make sense to me either that he'd pay with checks, but after reading the story I get it. He was trying to get over and con the hooker. He'd pay for all the services with a check and then reported the checks stolen. That got him "free" services and also if the checks were traced by to him, he could say they were stolen. But stupidly, by him reporting them stolen, he led them directly to the hooker. Dummy.
FYI: She looks like a man.
Holy jeez that's a scary looking hooker.
Killfile, to answer your question -- that is the kind of hooker that takes checks.
I want to know if the hooker is a Christian. If so, Coy Privette was simply living up to the name of his organization by getting some "Christian action."
PS You guys have a problem with the prostitute? As a woman, I have to say that Privette is one butt-ugly, old white man. I think the hooker deserves a Purple Heart (or whatever they hand out for -- that word again!-- bravery in action).

For Breakfast maybe?
BINGO
"what do you right in the memo line?"
for christian fellowship.
Same kind of person who believes the whole world was populated from one man and his rib.
anyways, .I agree, she should get a medal :)
First -- Who pays hookers with checks?
The former mayor if Cincinnati, OH. Jerry Springer.
Glad the republicans have returned family values to Kannapolis NC.
He'd pay for all the services with a check and then reported the checks stolen.
Why break just one Commandment when you can go for two? It shouldn't be too hard to work blasphemy in there too, for the hat trick.
Privette on two occasions allegedly paid the prostitute with checks then reported those checks as stolen, officials said.
... I guess it's possible the cheques were stolen? or he is such an idiot
yeah and haggart you wanted to experiment with meth but never tried it and only got back rubs from that guy.
Do you think twice that someone robbed his checkbook, stoole a check and returned his book and then used the check for hookers?
It was two occassions.
anyway I'm sure were the ones that are sinners, he will be forgiven since he is so high up in the church as a having minor weakness and falling to temptation, and mean while they will try to shove these morals they dont5 even follow into law.
Joules, as long as there is not a dead body, what can we do?
@joules
I just meant it's possible the prostitute stole his cheques while he was... ya know in the toilet or whatever. Either way, he's a meat-head.
I think this incident greatly reflects the differences between being a morale person and a religious person. What is frightening about this story is not action itself, but the fact that this man actually had a congregation.
well it goes to show the religioous can be immoral so can it be said athests CAN be very moral.
morality doesnt come from the bible and if you think it does i suggest you read again.
I honestly think the ten commandments should be posted in public places, but unadulterated. Because people are ignorant.
Hey great ideas, the punishment a bit stiff. And if i dont kill you for working on sunday, my neighbors are supposed to kill me for being weak.
Oh yeah we can ignore the killing part now (even though jesus siad specifically he wasnt going to change the old laws) How much more can we ignore now?
I think we should work together to benefit society more, just imagine what can be accomplished if we put as much effort into some of societies ills as we do into the collection plates of major churches and synagogues. We should work toward bettering mankind.
74 years old, hmm...
Charges? Assault with a dead weapon.
Charges? Assault with a dead weapon.
Hah! Good one, Jimster!
The reason she was so expensive is because she had to be able stand on her head. (wait for punch line. it's coming) >goes for coffee> (wait for it).
Why? He's old that he can't get it up so he has to drop it in.
Well, he'll tearfully repent in public, his wife will forgive him, God will forgive him, and then he'll go right back to doing what he was doing, both in public and in private. We've all seen this movie before.
Isn't a trip to a rehab facility part of the equation these days as well?
Don't forget -- he needs to blame it on his alcoholism, or say that a priest molested him.
3 weeks at a rehab retreat, and he'll be forever cured!
Well, presumably he'll be visiting the ATM from now on...
I think you only do rehab if you are "diagnosed" with "teh gay".
Poor guy. Hoisted by his own petard.
Sorry, I have several comments.
1. Passing 70 allows you to do anything you want.
2. I pay my hookers through direct deposit.
3. I gave up religion because paying for sex was more effective than praying for sex.
4. I am starting a list of all commenters who appear to like or focus more on sex than they should. List will be published after my demise.
I love it... thanks for the laugh.
3. I gave up religion because paying for sex was more effective than praying for sex.
LOL. One of the best anti-religion arguments ever.
jimi, don't jump too high for joy. I have had a few of my prayers answered as well. Religion is good if you can use it and I have and probably will. Nothing wrong with any religion. It is just some of the people who practice it that give it a bad name.
Oldfogey, a gentleman friend of mine once sent me (this was VERY long ago, you understand) a birthday card that said "You and Michaelangelo have a lot in common. Lying on your back, you can make me see God."
I hope I'm on that list of yours, despite being a great deal older now than I was then.

Whooo-wooo, trex. That's a compliment to treasure ALWAYS. I don't care how long ago he said it. You're gold, love!
The far right is just getting better and better, aren't they?
You couldn't make up stuff as funny as this!!
Well, I suggest that all the wives takes a course in "prostitution" and keep hidden under the bed that the acts in a matrimony/marriage is a sin
Well chindi... I guess you could say this is a little bit better news for them. After all, it wasn't a male prostitute this time :)
After all, it wasn't a male prostitute this time :)
Are you sure? Did you see the picture?
Yes, and if that's part of their "scared straight" program, it is little wonder that many have reverted.
It'll take a whole lot of tequila to get the image of those two going at it out of my head.
breakfast at tiffany's.... imagine the two of them bare ass nekkid doing the horizontal bop... the undercover hula... i think she does look a little on the masculine side. such aa lovely couple...
luv,
ron
Did he practice safe sex by writing a rubber check?
Herb: PRICELESS!!!! (pun not intended, but good anyway).
This was a 10-Commandments twofer, wasn't it? Adultery AND theft?
"Live life artistically! Only dead fish follow the current."
Sorry that was on a link from Benno, and I had to paste it somewhere.
It happend to the admired British actor Hugh Grant.
...
Determined: Hugh Grant was a fundamentalist preacher who taught the value of family and sexual morality? Wow, news to me. "4 Weddings and a Funeral," in which his character bonked another man's fiancee, was a tad off message, then, wasn't it? Oh well, no matter, I'm sure God and his wife forgave him and he repented.
I think 'admired' is a bit of a stretch for Hugh G, det especially after...
I'm starting to enjoy these Christian/Republican "Family Values." Now that's entertainment!
I would enjoy it more without the pictures.
I'm really beginning to wonder what the hell "Family values" means. Did anyone stop to get a definition from the "moral majority" before they started trying to convert everyone?
I think the strategy goes something like "Proselytize now, ask questions later." Assuming of course that "later" is at the gates of St. Peter.
I think the strategy goes something like "Proselytize now, ask questions later."
Or "Prostitute-lytise, ask questions later . . ."
:-O
...Prostitute-lytise...
That's easy for you to say...

Hmmm, Spooky?

Spooky Boyfriend...you have a bit of a tongue twister there...
Ahhh. Yeah, you're righ.
:-]
you're righ.
And you're right, too.
...and I'm wry...

Yep! You are, indeed.
(Thanks for bailing me out, Spooky)
The League's purpose is to assist the church in fulfilling Christ's command to be the "salt" and the "light" of the earth.
Ahem...
It seems that in the past couple of years we have witnessed the implosion of the Christian Right. If this were an isolated incident it would be amusing, but considering how many similar incidents have occurred I can't help but wonder if the whole organization is crashing to the ground.
Its a sign of the times. The extreme right is fading into obscurity as all the hypocracy comes out.
It would be a mistake to see the Christian right as a single monolith. The Christian right is made up of a myriad of organizations, schools of thought, families and single actors.

Hell, it's the most schismatic of the major world religions by far!

They will never go away. Like all extremist. they just regroup later. They have been here since Cain.
The Christian right is made up of a myriad of organizations, schools of thought, families and single actors.
And the one thing they have in common is hypocrisy.
Though I completely agree that there is much diversity within Christianity, and more specifically Christian conservatives, it can't be denied that until this point they have been united on two issues, homosexuality and abortion, and that their unity has made them one of the most powerful voting blocks in the country. I don't dislike Christianity and respect the religious and historical diversity that its many branches are beholden too, but it disgusts me to see faith hijacked by people who are nothing if not hypocrites motivated by greed rather than altruism.
Garet, Garet dude, Garet dog, Garetski, Garetovich, Garetvonsky, Garet-a-roo, Gareta-bitta-foh-fannah, I don't see faith as hijacked. I just see these folks in he news. I'm all for faith. Who doesn't like, no, love faith?

Spooky makes a good point.
These guys, when you get right down to it, have absolutely nothing to do with faith or Christianity. In fact, I have a feeling if Jesus were to walk among us today, he would be dismayed and horrified at those who profess such fierce loyalty to his teachings and are making millions, defiling his name and his message.
Spooky, Spooky.
When politics and religion become one, such as with the Christian Action League, they end up in the news. Perhaps if they worked harder to find the spiritual side of religion, rather than the activism side, they'd find their path much easier to walk.
Many religious leaders in America have failed their parishioners and especially the youth by making religion more about morality and rhetoric than finding the magic and spirit in the world around us. Perhaps if they climbed off the ivory pulpit and went outdoors and turned over a few rocks by a stream, or planted a tree or anything else that doesn't involve finding fault with whatever everyone else is doing, they'd find about what Christianity and other religions are really about... the mystery of life and why we're here.
There is nothing morally more abhorrent than what this old fart represents... and unfortunately he's not alone. Do as I say, not as I do has never held water, never will, but idiots like this guy and his ilk are more interested in power and money than being the good Samaritan. The louder, more abrasive and exclusionary these religiopoligoons are, the less they should be listened to and the more I want to see them fall.
Just a brief reminder of neocon claims in an earlier seed:
Dems are seen as having no moral authority
And at this point what is the Christian Right seen as having?
Whore authority?
I think that's a broken link PH. Doesn't look like anything I remember seeding.
Try this, from the recent Seed on Ted Kennedy.
The neocons have to go back to a 38-year old accidental death to conjure up something to take the stench off of stories like this.
The accidental death that was not reported por hours could not pass the scrutinyn nowadays.

Yeah, that was almost laughable, Partisan. It put me in mind of a scene from "Outfoxed" when Rupert Murdoch, a propos of absolutely zilch, ordered a replay of the Chappaquidick incident during a FOX broadcast.
Even the newscasters were baffled.
Boy, they sure like to milk that one for all it's worth.

So who pays the stiffer penalty? ;)
dirty, dirty, dirty...um..um...good....I'd bet that the old white guy (pictured in a suit and tie) got out on bail....while his economically oppressed black female consort (pictured in a jail jump suit)....remained incarcerated.

Good point, newbroom! I've been thinking the same thing.
do they have hard evidence? will it stand up in court?? if so, will the old bot have to do hard time?

Little Emily sits in her little pre-school desk, as soft sobs start to erupt from her in small spouts like intermitted hiccups of sorrow. Miss Green stoops down low and softly whispers her concerns "Why are you so sad today dear one". Emily looks Miss Green firmly in the eye and replies with a sniff, "It's my Mommy, My Mommy and Daddy. They are going to die!" With that, her eyes swell and she redoubles her sobs of despair. "Come with me" say's Miss Green as she takes the little girls hand and leads her to the hall so they can speak alone. "Now tell me Emily, what makes you think such a silly thing?" "I heard them talking about it last night." She replies between sobs of anguished tears. I'm sure you overheard something that you misunderstood and you shouldn't worry yourself about it. Tell me what happened and I will help you. "Well" Began the little girl as she began to settle down. "It was night, and I woke and wanted a drink, so I went to Mommy and Daddy's room, and heard them talking through the door about them dying. 'Sob." I'm sure it's not so bad as that dear what did they say? "I heard Daddy say' "Oh God I'm Coming' then Mommy said. 'Oh God I'm Coming too!"
Religious organizations wonder why people are having less faith. Look at the people who are supposed to be role models... it's like everywhere I turn these people are molesting kids, advocating racism or buying hookers.
Also, at 74, how is he getting it up? Does viagra even work at that age?
Just in case it doesn't, he brought along a popsickle stick and some duct tape.
I would the bid deal if the old man was in the ER for taking a pill that lasted longer than 4 hours.
