Kathy Griffin's Anti-Christian Remarks Will Be Censored

In her speech, Griffin said that "a lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this award. I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus."

Whatever, Killfile.
I say she should be exposed to the public as who she is portraying herself to be.
Her career depends on the adoration of her audience.
Let her have her say.
We'll see how much public agreement she can muster..........

The comedian's remarks were condemned Monday by Catholic League President Bill Donohue, who called them a "vulgar, in-your-face brand of hate speech."

Bill Donohue is a well-known asshat. Since the remarks were censored, we will never know if they were specifically anti-Catholic.

Kathy Griffin is one of the quickest comedic wits I've ever seen. She consciously chooses to shock sometimes and sometimes that is what her audiences expect of her.

If it were Sara Silverman, we would just say she was "in character."

I think that what got everyone up in arms was when she said something to the effect of, "suck it, Jesus!"

Personally, I'm offended by 90% of what this Administration has done (probably because I'm unaware of the other 10%). Can someone censor W and his crew?

I find this to be neither offensive or insulting. She makes a valid point.

If you were to reverse this, you would find any remark thanking Jesus for anything to be offensive to any non-Christian.

I think that, at 2011 years old, Jesus is old enough to fight his own battles, and doesn't need morons like Mr. Donohue sticking their oh-so-sensitive noses in where they're not invited. The insult was aimed squarely at Jesus himself, and if he finds it to be offensive or hateful, then he needs to take it up with Ms. Griffin directly. I mean... he's one third of the Holy Trinity, for Christ's sake! Why in god's name does he need some puny mortal nobody to stick up for him? Do you think if Thor were annoyed he'd go and get some Viking to do his dirty business? Hell no! If it bugged him, he'd toss a lightning bolt and that bimbo would be a sauteed carrot-top, served to the Valkyries for dinner. How is Jesus ever going to get any respect if he just hides somewhere over the rainbow doing an imitation of the Cowardly Lion? I say broadcast it often and lets see what kind of a man he really is.

I think it's funny. It shows how people take things way too seriously, she's a comedian! I think Kathy Griffin is awesome, I've never felt offended by something she's said, and I'm a Christian myself.

Anti-Christian is inaccurate, or at least selective. Jesus is part of Islam, and some other religions. Anti-Christ for sure, but telling mythical characters they can suck it doesn't seem to warrant censorship. For the record, Jesus can suck it, and so can Hercules. The Greek pagans are up in arms right now. They can blow me. Newsvine is my God now!

Huh. I actually think her remarks aren't necessarily funny, but they are fairly accurate. I've seen plenty of people get up and thank Jesus and/or God for their award and I frequently think that God had nothing to do with it because of whatever they were receiving the award for. I don't think that her speech should have been censored for being honest. Seriously.

What is so offensive? All day long I look at stupid "Jesus" fish on poeple's cars. Christians are always throwing their beliefs in everyone's face.

Religion is the most eggregious form of human self aggrandizement. Jews are "chosen", Christians are "made in god's image" and Muslims are "soldiers of god". What an ego-maniacal load of s&*t! Atheism requires true humility.

How can you not consider this offensive towards Christians? If you someone told YOU to suck it, you'd be pissed off. I believe in freedom of speech but I also believe in having respect for others. Whatever happened to "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." She knew she was going to offend people before she said it. That makes it hate speech. She offended half the country, just to try to get the other half to laugh. Wonder what would've happened if she'd called some one a nappy headed ho? Or maybe used the "n" word. Her already pathetic career would've been over but insulting Jesus is okay because it suddenly becomes a freedom of speech issue instead. Yes, she should be censored because she was disrespectful to not only Christians, but to people who don't want to hear her profanity in the first place whether they believe in God or not. I mean good grief, you can't even watch an awards show without hearing offensive language and her claiming that her award is her new god for her the son of God to "suck it." SHe's definitely not a lady and shows no self respect or respect for others.

Do you consider "suck it Jesus" a compliment towards Jesus? Of course not. (that's degrading) To offend Jesus, is to offend those who love him. (prejudicial against religion) It's just the same as if someone offends your loved one, it offends you. It gets you riled up and your reaction is to defend. (Incites violence) Now, I don't think anyone should harm Kathy Griffin because she said something stupid, but it still makes Christians feel like they need to defend their God. If They sat here and just ignored it, eventually Christians would lose all their rights, just to pacify others. Atheist's want to say Christians whine and claim they're being persecuted all the time. Why don't you research other countries and then you'll see that this is one of the last countries left were Christians aren't being murdered just because they're Christians. It's the fact that we know what is happening everywhere else, that makes us fight to defend our Lord here in the U.S.
Why is THIS a freedoms issue when our 10 commandments were taken down all across America and nobody was even saying it out loud. Athiests had the option to READ it or not and they were STILL offended. But we're not allowed to be offended when she says what she did? If Kathy Griffin didn't want to start controversy, then she shouldn't have insulted the larger percent of America.

Bottom line is, she was asking for trouble. Violence doesn't HAVE to be the outcome, but it is always a possibility when someone is deliberately being insulted to their face on national TV. It isn't the Christian way to hurt people, but you can't deny that we're only human like everyone else and when you're provoked, well the outcome depends on how much more you get pushed. Of course it's not like anybody is saying she should be stoned to death. Just apologize for being indecent. What I don't understand is why this guy on the medical show (the name escapes me) gets his career ruined for calling someone a fag, another gets his career ruined for calling someone a nappy headed ho and another is being tormented on stage by hecklers and he used the 'N" word (yes, I think all of those things were horrible) and their careers are ruined but this woman is being treated like a hero to Athiests. I wish Christians WOULD be as outspoken as the athiests and stand up for what they believe in as passionately as those who stand up for what they DONT believe in. I guess that's just how it is now in America. I don't even know what cartoons you're talking about by the way.

There's so much hatred and spite in the world now. I don't lash out to intentionally hurt others who are Christians, but they lash out at us on TV in front of the whole country and we're viewed as being whiny? I'm not whining, I'm worried. I don't think it's going to be long before we're all going to have a very hard life. Our own Government sold us out, they're tazing (spelling?) us left and right, our schools are full of pedophiles and we can't even get along enough to help each other out in times of need. Well, I'm gonna pray for all of us. I read the news daily because I am a news junky and I see every single day a new article where Jesus is being Mocked. People are so uneducated these days that they even believe that Allah and God are one and the same which is not true, Allah is the Pagan moon god and so they lump Christians into the same catagory. Christian or not, did you read the freakin news today??? We're all in trouble but I take comfort in knowing that I have a book full of prophecies (which all up to this point have come true) and God to pray to. I believe he hears me. Whether you believe it or not doesn't really matter to me. It did for a minute, now there's a whole lot more to think about besides you.

This news site is pathetic. This is how you treat guests who come here from links on REAL news sights. You have proved my point. Christians can't defend their religion anymore without getting this kind of treatment. I wasn't here to start trouble. My responses should've told you that. I never once said anything rude to anyone. I had no desire to. You have a lot of hate in you little man. I think you need a nap and maybe a diaper change as well. I don't know where you think I'm from, but nobody talks like that here. You just sound like a fool. You should take your lips off your mother tit and take a good look around you and see what's really happening in the world today little man.

Perhaps I have a different definition of "hate," but I don't see how you could even begin to make the case that Kathy's comments were "hateful." She said that Jesus had nothing to do with her award, and joked that the award "is her god now." What's hateful about that?

All she did was basically state, in the form of an irreverent joke, and not for the first time, that she's not a Christian. She got the award for being irreverent, for chrissake! Since when is it anti-Christian, offensive, or hateful to not be a Christian? She wasn't insulting Christians, she wasn't using offensive epithets or targeting specific people; this is not anywhere near to Michael Richards' debacle. She told Jesus to suck it. Get over it. You think everyone has to be respectful towards your imaginary friend just because you say so? That's absurd and unamerican. Yeah, she offended half the country--the stupider half that is too stuck up to appreciate her comedy anyhow. I thought it was hilarious.

The problem is that there are very prudish and overly sensitive attitudes in the Christian community. What do you expect of a religion that thinks the all-powerful cosmic creator of the universe is most concerned with what his puny creations do with their genitals? Luckily, America is still a country where someone like Kathy Griffin can say whatever she wants about Jesus or Superman or Mohamed without getting stoned or imprisoned. I know that plenty of E!'s watchers would rather it wasn't.

I understand what E! is doing, but it's cowardly just the same. E! has never been known for pushing the boundaries or creating quality content. They're in business of selling empty entertainment to idiots with short attention spans--offending Christians would only hurt them. That's why Kathy Griffin is on Bravo, which targets a much more open-minded audience.

It is unfortunate that such a talent woman can reveal such discusting and vile statements. She is selfish and vulgar and should be careful not to affend a vast majority who thank Jesus on a daily basis for their mere existence.

Making an award an idol or a god is extremely stupid and ignorant. This woman needs a lot of prayer if she thinks that anything else can come from that award...she already stripped away the little value it did have after she made her disgusting statements. She should take a few years on the time out "d" list.
