Is Barack Obama the next JFK?

advertisement

Has Barack Obama developed the "Big Mo", vital momentum that would take him through to the Democratic nomination, very possibly to the presidency? Even before the South Carolina vote there were two very experienced politicians who seemed to think that he has.

Since New Hampshire, Bill and Hillary Clinton have gone over to attack mode.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

It's important to judge the Kennedy presidency absent the rose colored glasses that his assassination lends to his administration. Kennedy did a number of things right but a number of things very very wrong. That said, he was a political force of nature. The real question is - can Obama measure up to Kennedy in that respect?

It's hard to say, once we get past the "who's the underdog" bit that the Clinton's and Obama seem to be playing at we'll get a chance to see how Obama handles the hard and fast campaigning before the convention.
