Huckabee/Palin 2012?

advertisement

A new CNN/Opinion Research poll of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents asking their current choice for the 2012 GOP Presidential nomination shows Mike Huckabee in the lead with 34% and Sarah Palin nipping at the Huckster's heels with 32%.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Sure, it's all name recognition right now, but... honestly... doesn't that seem like a plausible ticket for the GOP in 2012? It's not like there's a broad field of candidates out there right now.

Of course, four years ago Barack Obama wasn't even a Senator from Illinois yet (just a Senator elect) so... I suppose anything can happen.

Ah, the Republican party. Not being happy about shooting itself in the feet, it now desperately wants to shoot itself in the face.

No, Mr Vice President, sit down. You don't need to volunteer.

2/3 of the base, are they the only ones in the party that matter anymore, this seems more like a revenge poll than a real position of many others in the party. But hey, this is not anything new, they are the angriest of americans because their loud mutterings are not of interest to most americans.

My dream ticket for 2012: Huckabee for Prez, Palin for VP.

I think we can count on 8 years for Obama then. Not because of Huckabee so much, but any ticket with Palin on it is not going to win. If I were Huckabee, I'd want Pawlenty...

Agree on Sarah Palin — she’s too polarizing a figure. Further, I don’t think the country is in the mood for a culture warrior these days, which I feel is what Palin is. Pawlenty or Romney would be wiser picks. Of course, as a Democrat, I’d like to see Palin win the nomination in ‘12 because I think Obama would destroy her in every region of the country except the South and sparsely populated rural-west states.

The guy hasn't done a damn thing yet and he's thought of as "a well liked incumbent".Maybe the GOP should save the dough and pass on the 2012 election.Holy crap I thought the last election was long. We're starting now on the next one??

Boy, that sounds like fun.  I wonder how many more kids Palin will birth for props?
