Just before international inspectors on Sunday were guided for the first time into an Iranian nuclear enrichment plant whose existence was a state secret until recently, the speaker of Iran's Parliament warned his countrymen to beware of American efforts to "cheat" Iran out of the nuclear fuel that has become the country's currency in reasserting its power.
Bluntly, I'm just not real confidant that the US can really do do anything to keep a bomb out of Iran's hands if they really set their minds to building one.
Exactly, no one or no war can stop them and no admin can either. Bush couldnt and neither can BO admin but just thinking of what consequences could come about if they do get nuclear weapons capability especially the way their leaders talk.
Fun fact: There is exactly one weapon that human kind has ever developed that's never been used in combat.
The Hydrogen Bomb.
The reason is that the consequences of its use are such that there really exists no rational turn of events that can bring about a situation wherein a nation would use it. The same applies to an Iranian atomic bomb.
If Iran has a bomb it's not going to launch first. Iran's leaders - religious or otherwise - are in no hurry to meet their God. If they were, it wouldn't be 20-year-old kids with bombs strapped to their chests blowing up US troops in Iraq but elder Iranian clerics.
The only way Iran would launch is if the one of two things were threatened: either the very existence of their nation or the existence of its nuclear deterrent. Once Iran explodes a bomb you can be damn sure that everyone else will come to grips with that reality and leave them alone.
I'm not saying that the world is a better place for Iran's being left alone to do whatever it wants with its citizens... but if India and Pakistan haven't managed to blast each other into the stone age then I wouldn't expect Iran to break the trend.
