The entire time the scene was unfolding, I was just thinking in my head "This is the Mumbai Massacre, I am playing the Mumbai Massacre." I've since played the scene a few times, just to see the reaction from my friends, which was always the same as mine. And once you start shooting helpless civs yourself, the experience gets even more profound.
Here's a video of the whole ordeal in case my words aren't painting a good enough picture. This player opted to participate in the slaughter.
I agree. It's sort of something I have to mentally prepare for every time I play it.
I usually have fun plowing through a level with a lot of easy enemies, but this was definitely different. It just felt really grim to me, really hard. It was this mechanical death march. From a gamer's point of view, I thought the level was slow and generally annoying to have to play through. From a human being's point of view? It's just less clear. It's hard for me to quantify that feeling.
I played through it while still high on the fact that I was holding in my hands MW2. When I play through again, I'm going to try and figure it out.
