Drinking a bottle of wine a day, or half a dozen beers, cuts the risk of heart disease by more than half in men, it has been shown.
In one of the largest studies of the link between alcohol and heart disease, researchers have found that the protective effects of a daily tipple are not limited to those who drink moderately but also extend to those who consume at what are conventionally considered to be dangerously high levels.
Ok, perhaps not better than a beer... but how many college students do you know that have heart attacks? Coincidence? I think not!
(Seriously, a glass of red wine a day with dinner folks. You can't drink heart-disease under the table)
One beer or glass of wine with or right after dinner helps me sleep more deeply. i think that may be key to the whole thing...good sleep and enough if it.

LOL. Yeah, a glass of wine or a bottle of beer in the evening helps cut the plaque that builds in the arteries (that restrict blood flow and can break off to cause heart attacks or strokes). My husband's doctor recommends it, and he certainly sleeps well if snoring is any indicator! Not more than that, however, so that a dependency doesn't develop. There are enough alcoholics!
As if I needed a(nother) reason to keep drinking!
Maybe they should've also studied the link between alcohol and liver disease at the same time.
Alcoholics will love to hear this.
This is great news. I'll be stopping at the liquor store on my way home tonight.
Makes a little sense. Well, stress causes heart attacks. Alcohol relieves stress (or at least makes your body relaxes about it while you cry in your gin.)
Damn. Now that I've thought about it. I haven't had a good Gewurtztraminer or Aus-schlasse in months.
