Palin Booed By Her Own Followers After She "Pulled A Palin" And Skipped Out On Fans Who'd Been Promised An Autograph

advertisement

Unhappy fans of Sarah Palin went rogue on the Alaska Republican during her book tour stop in Noblesville, Indiana on Thursday.

The local Borders outlet had handed out 1,000 wristbands to book purchasers; the wristbands were supposed to procure fans Palin's signature on their hardback copies of "Going Rogue." But several dozen people who had been promised signatures were turned away empty-handed after waiting hours in poor weather, a local news outlet, the Indy Channel, reported.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Okay I'm not excusing the bad behavior but I don't think that this is her fault as much as it is the people who did the crowd control.

They should have cut the line off and not let people wait in line pass a certain number of people instead of having 100's of people waiting in the cold and rain and not get their 15 seconds of face time with Ms. Palin.

Ms. Palin should have given the people who waited in line up to 9 hours the signature that they wanted but I bet time restrictions were in place.

It was very badly handled and I'm sure that this will be the only incident of this kind on the book tour.

There was a limit of 1000 wrist bands handed out with books sold. Any books after that amount could not get signatures. It turned out that anyone in line after 9pm wearing a wristband was out of luck. "Thanks for buying my book, suckers."

I can't imagine why anyone with young children would wait with those children in line all day in bad weather to get this bimbos signature on a book. And then the husband says he's going to have a hard time supporting Sarah. As Charlie Brown would say, "Oh, Good grief."

@Christian News & Updates

no the assumption here is that purchasers with a wristband were promised a signature, which she did not produce...no wait that is not an assumption it is a fact. Why that happend can be the source of speculation.

What you did, however, was simply substitute one person's assumption with your own. When you begin a phrase with "its also possible..." then you are speculating...which is in fact, an assumption.

It's absolutely bizarre that she would alienate her own base like that. I hope Fox News comes up with a suitable excuse, like "Her child was sick in the hospital with a chronic hiccuping, and she needed to fly out immediately to fulfill her motherly role."

Asked for comment on why she left before signing all the autographs, Palin issued a statement:

"I'm determined to take the right path through the bookstore, even though it is unconventional and it's not so comfortable. For my state and for my family to progress through this bookstore, I will not be signing any more autographs. A good basketball player knows when a full-court press is coming, and when to pass the ball for victory. And by a 'full-court press,' I mean a line of fans. And by 'pass the ball,' I mean I'm hungry and there's a TGI Friday's next door. Thank you very much. Roguey rogue rogue. Goodnight."

Palin on Facebook about the incident:

I've been told that yesterday there were supporters in Noblesville who stood in long lines for hours in the cold and rain, and the book signing event ended without a chance to say hello to everyone who showed up. I am so sorry. We are working on a solution for those who were left behind.

and from a local TV channel:

The store handed out 1,000 wristbands for the event early Thursday, saying those with wristbands would have their books signed, unless "unforeseen circumstances" arose.

and

Those who didn't get to greet Palin personally were offered an autographed book plate, which Davis said was "satisfactory to the vast majority of those who did not have the opportunity to meet her."

So, first she had to be told later that she did not sign all the books and people were complaining outside her bus? Maybe she was at TGI Fridays. Ever hear of "to go?"

Then she split, but handily enough, came prepared with a bunch of "book plates" (which I understand was a sticker with her signature printed on it) Pretty lucky she thought of that beforehand. Almost like she was prepared for quitting at 9PM no matter how many people were left.

I have concluded that Palin is a psychopath. She will self-destruct. She is powerless not to self-destruct. She is powerless over herself. That observation and prediction has been posted on another thread, as a comment. I have said, "Mark my words."

I thought it would take many months, perhaps as long as two years, for her to self-destruct. If she keeps this up it will happen a lot sooner. She wouldn't get off her bus! She wouldn't apologize through the open door! She made chumps out of her fans. She did it all on camera.

There was an apology issued that sounded like a release from a publicity agent or public relations manager. It was cold and mechanical. Palin simply wouldn't come off her bus. I think that rather than accept responsibility for her actions last night, she'll need to find an excuse that centers around someone else, preferably a public person she can claim as an enemy. That would put her further out on the limb, closer to self-destruction. Time will tell about this one.

I wonder if there is a contractual agreement with Borders. I wonder if Borders can sue for lost revenue and loss of reputation. Add irresponsible and cold-hearted to the list of Palin character traits. She's a psychopath; what began as a conjecture and hypothesis on that point is gathering supporting evidence.

As much as I am amazed at the popularity and hype that surrounds this woman, I have to say that I can sympathize. Signing autographs may not sound like work, but try it sometime. Just sit down and visualize have to write things like; "To Mr. or Mrs. Whitebread, We will take back our country. Love and hand sanitizer, S.P." 1,000 times a day for three weeks.

Just so we're clear, sympathy is one thing, pity another. She brought this on herself.

I would like to see how long she was scheduled to stay for and how long she actually stayed. The article also says there were several dozen. Several is what 3 or 4 and a dozen is 12...so we are talking 36 to 48 people (give or take) out of a thousand? awwww.... too bad. Maybe they should have gotten there sooner to be closer to the front of the line.

As for the "stickers" with the signature...this is fairly normal when a popular writer shows up. Ever go to a book signing? When time is up, time is up. You might get 10 or 15 minutes more, but not much more than that....

The only reason this is news is because the media cannot find anything "real" to get her with, so they attack her over style, time, food, clothing, which news paper she does or does not read (when like most people she probably reads a collection of sources...on line).

...and for everyone who hates her, if the media would stop talking about her she would not be in the news everyday. She would probably fade away into obscurity...instead she is gaining in favorability to the point she is within 5 to 10 point of Obama...it is your own fault for obsessing over her.

First, it's news because she left MANY fans, WAY more than 48 people by what was shown on TV. Her fans were shouting at her to sign their book. Why would there be a time-limit and a quantity limit? There was a quantity limit of 1000. 1000 was committed to be signed. The full 100 were not signed. QUITTER.

Five to ten points within Obama... where, in her own family? Yeah. That's probably it.

Nice try, Repo. 3 or 4 is a few, several would be more than you could casually count by glance. There were about 150 left without signatures. Would not have mattered where they were in line because the same amount would have been left behind.

The only reason this is news is because the media cannot find anything "real" to get her with,

If there was any substance to her we would not hear her @!$%#ing because an already published photo was used on the cover of magazine. She's like a one-eyed, three-legged dog, you can't stop feeling sorry for the poor thing but you can't stop laughing, either.

I'd say, hold on to the wristband to bequeath to your kids and grandkids. Will be more valuable than the autograph they were intended to obtain . . .

Palin Booed By Her Own Followers After She "Pulled A Palin" And Skipped Out On Fans Who'd Been Promised An Autograph

They boo because they love:

A mighty pain to love it is,
And 'tis a pain that pain to miss;
But of all pains, the greatest pain
It is to love, but love in vain.

I heard on Fox News that over 1,000,000 people showed up at the bookstore. I can hardly blame ex-Governor Palin for not signing all those books.

I'd be willing to bet that 99,000 of them mis-heard "Sarah Palin" as "Sharing Ritalin".

Repoman is right. Why do you all get together to slap each other on the back for your little jabs and jeers at Palin’s expense? Is your life so empty that you clamor to spend time congratulating other like-minded people for sharing your self-aggrandizing opinion of her?

Another great woman, besides Sarah Palin, stated it best: “Great minds discuss ideas; Average minds discuss events; Small minds discuss people”.

You know, CN&U, your criticisms would be better-founded if they weren't rendered meaningless and hypocritical by a casual glance at your own seeding history, which is to say nothing of your comments in other threads. It's readily apparent that your problem isn't simply the idea of people talking about a political opponent; it's that you don't share their views. But instead of engaging people honestly about your disagreement, you try to belittle them for even having the conversation. Pathetic.

Wow, the Huffing post is really getting hard up for negative stories. I really do not care that a few fans may or may not have been upset according to the Huff Post as there is always another side to the story. What really did happen? Palin is a class act, if it had been Obama then it would be beliveable.
