This past weekend, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) addressed a tea party rally in Arizona. Recall, during his primary campaign, many tea partiers opposed McCain and favored his opponent J.D. Hayworth. Speaking at the 2nd annual Tucson Tea Party rally Saturday, McCain was greeted with a warm reception. And he proceeded to compliment the right-wing base for "changing America."

So if you have any doubt that McCain jumped the shark on his previously held values of rationality, sanity, and "maverickishness..." well... there you are then.

Of course, if you got through 2008 believing he hadn't sold his political soul for the nomination odds are you're awaiting deliver of a bridge from Brooklyn.

KEEPING IT REAL!

McCain was never a Maverick but just a character created by the media. If you look at his voting record he overall vote conservative. Sure there are a few times when he appeared to show some bipartisanship but as a whole he was conservative. If people really checked, they'd probably find that McCain even lied about what happened to him when he was captured.

I remember during the primaries in 2008 reading about a couple of events that the non Maverick told happened to him from the enemy was written in a book about someone else almost word for word prior too McCain capture. I believe the media knows McCain has been living a lie to some degree about his military record.

With his flight record, McCain should have been grounded, but since his Daddy was highly placed in the military, he was allowed to keep flying even though he had clearly demonstrated his reckless incompetence.

There was a time (now way long ago) that I liked McCain. I thought he truly was a rogue. Whatever he might have been, he is now a sell-out. When he brought Palin on the scene, though it really started me looking at him and his behavior. I did not like what I saw. In one way I am glad Palin arrived as I finally saw the reality. In the other, having someone like Palin who was unintelligent, narcissistic, hungry for power, and a liar be seen as someone actually considerable for VP has unleashed a whole slew of imitators, all as awful or worse than Palin. Somehow because of McCain's VP choice, being immoral, lying, selling out for money, quitting, lazy and unintelligent are now viable and admired characteristics to the Repubs. I feel ashamed for our country as others watch this stupidity. We are destroying ourselves from within with characters like this.

Back in the 2000 election cycle McCain was definitely a candidate I was considering, as I was on the fence on Gore and knew Bush would be a Skull n Bones, Whff n Poof horror show.

He was totally on the mark on the issues that concerned me of the day. Then Bush via Rove poisoned the well with ugly rumors about him having depression and requiring medication. Really pissed me off.

But McCain today is a mere husk of the man he once was.

And that would've been my first Republican vote! (Gosh, I feel so centrist; so reasonable~!:>)

Excuse me, but I need to step outside of myself for just one moment. WTH? Did I hear Mr. McCain totally misspeak and say "cut no taxes, no one's taxes need to be cut"? (no one cheered) Then he turned back and said "raise no taxes" (then the people cheered).

John is one of those "Career Politicians" the TeaParty keeps screaming about and looks like it's high time for him to step aside. Besides, he's too old to "bend over" like that. Stand up straight John and walk with integrity. You don't need to do that to serve your citizens.

Killfile: This just confirms that McCain has lost it (completely) and the he will do anything to protect his Senate job. He no longer qualifies n my book as a true statesman. The picture that emerges of him is one of an unstable person who will flip flop whenever the pressure builds. Some wanted him to be the President of the United State?

He would probably be flip flopping every single time some international incident put a strain on US relations with disarming words put forth to "test" American resolve from Iran to North Korea.

It appears he seeking airtime on Fox News.

I lost respect for MCCain when he treated the MIA families with such disdain and disrespect. I lost even more during his presidential bid when I started reading about him. The Rolling Stone story was a real eye opener. He has no respect for women....picking Palin as a running mate? MCCain didn't, the RNC did and you could tell he hated her and still does.

I give him respect for being a POW and for serving our country, but as a politician he gets a big fat ZERO.

Of course McCain and Palin are encouraging the Tea Party to watch nothing but Dumb FUX news. How else are they going to keep their pathetically stupid minions brainwashed enough to vote for tax breaks for corporations, and for the wealthiest people in the country? If they switched the channel, or picked up a reputable newspaper, they would see they were voting against middle class interests, and dragging the rest of the country down into their cesspool of ignorance.

Didn't vote for McCain but I admired and respected his apparent sincerity and commitment to his position. Now, we discover that, politically, he's nothing more than a opportunist and hypocrite. It's sad to see an American military hero who courageously faced grotesque treatment as a POW without breaking turn into a politicial hack who sheds his principles just to keep his job.

There comes a time in life when we must all admit: WE ARE AGED AND TOO OLD!

McCain is over the hill, headed up the other side of the valley. I like him, but he's just too old for anything now, especially politics. Granted, he means well. but by the time he figures out the issues (example: It's the economy stupid) he's forgotten what the issues were. He'd be an excellent spokesman for the Geritol, gincoba generation! so Mr. McCain, take a bow(God knows you've done enough encores) and leave politics with some dignity!

McCain is another GOP puppet that will flip-flop his "ideals" based on the day-to-day polling over wedge issues stirred up by right-wing media. Big oil and coal buying up your government right before your eyes to stop a comprehensive energy policy from happening. Wake up, America. The corrupt Republicans do not care about any of these other issues, they don't matter when the real plan is to dismantle the middle-class. All you have to do is convince a bunch of voters to be very afraid. Lean forward in this election cycle, folks, the stakes could not be bigger.

The thing that gets me, the GOP is always for cutting VA benefits, and the American Legions and VFW's which I belong to always endorse the GOP. Duh? It must be the fact the GOP raises defense spending. I don't get it!

thats why you are collecting benefits

I'm not collecting benefits, I was lucky my two tours! I still believe and we are seeing it now, these past and current war veterans need to be taken care of. I remember passing through airports being yelled at for whatever. At least these current young men and women are being recognized as the heroes they are. Support our troops, you might not like the war, but you better love them for the service to our great country!!!!!!

Have you ever had the experience of disliking some one you just met? And you cannot pin point the reason for that dislike.

Stevie, I think it is because of his pure arrogance and demeanor!

I lost all respect for McCain when he helped Sarah Palin escape from her padded room and unleashed her on the American public. Someone needs to take his Viagra pills away from him.

How said has McInsane become? There was a time, not that long ago, that he had crossover appeal. He had my attention at one point. But that was long ago, and sadly, I doubt he remembers it. He's either in the early stages of Alzheimer's, or he just said "Screw it, I'm selling out completely so I can stay in power".

I hope it's the former, for his sake. People would pity him for that. With the latter, I would just as soon see him squashed like a bug. I doubt I'm alone.

He may be the most tragically pathetic character in modern American political history.

      wittless,

Where did you come from? Did the Nuthouse have an early furlough program that you took advantage of? I've been reading your efforts (I say efforts-my Cairn Terrier accomplishes better sentences than you do) and they are a bit...what's the word...CRAZY.

Please, a bridge is calling you to spend the night under. Answer the call. Listen to the voices.

Poor McCain. He just realized that he's a "has been". His only option was to jump on the public hysteria band wagon along with Wilson and Palin and that crowd. If he's smart, he would have noticed who was driving. Koch, Rove, Armey, a veratible panthean of lobbyist/moneymen. That's where the power is. McCain may have been his own man when he started, but he's a smuck now.

I just looked up that word. Smuck: a useless piece of dick, foreskin. Apt. It must have been "a god thing".
