On State of the Union with Candy Crowley, Romney’s senior adviser Ed Gillespie promised that Romney would release two years worth of tax returns, following in the footsteps of McCain and Kerry. Except that Sen. Kerry (D-MA) released 20 years of tax returns when he ran for president in 2004. To add to that, Romney handed over 23 years worth of returns to John McCain’s campaign in 2008. Romney’s tax returns have been a focal point in vetting the Republican candidate with Mitt even requesting an apology from the Obama administration, after repeated attacks on the candidate’s lack of transparency.
