Earlier this year I was approached by the Theta Psi chapter of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity at Virginia Tech and asked to participate in a discussion of the Obama Presidency which took place on March 21st. The fraternity wanted to host a critical dialog on the accomplishments and failings of President Obama's administration in order to help college students - many of whom would be voting for the first time this year - reach an educated and informed decision in November.
I gladly accepted and informed the fraternity that, while I considered myself fairly well informed on the issues of the day, that my viewpoint had more to do with media analysis than anything else. To counter my somewhat short-term view of American politics the fraternity also invited Dr. Karen M. Hult of Virginia Tech's political science department.
